Preparing your Home - When preparing your home for sale you should make sure that the outside of your house looks great - first impressions really do count when selling your home. Inside, your property needs to be clean and free of clutter.

Estate Agents - If you decide to use an estate agent to sell your house you will likely have several to choose from in your local area. You will need to find out their costs and what they offer. The estate agent will then visit your home and together with you, will decide on an asking price. They will also offer advice to help sell your property.

The Selling Process - Whether you decide to sell your property through an estate agent, or by yourself, you will at some point accept an offer from a potential buyer and that will require you to appoint somebody do the legal work. Contracts will then need to be exchanged. Finally, on completion day, you will hand over the keys to your house.

Home Information Pack (HIP) - If you are selling your home in England or Wales you must provide a Home Information Pack (HIP). This provides information about your property. Your estate agent or solicitor can provide one for you, you could use a specialist company, or you can put one together yourself.
