Beach Home Could be Demolished

Located on the Gower Peninsula on Three Cliffs Bay, the construction of a lavish beach home owned by an hotelier from Wales could be halted permanently as the actual building is apparently much larger than originally designed!

The house when completed will have cost over two million pounds and will include a games room as well as a wine cellar, five bedrooms and even balconies which will overlook the nearby bay.  It is to be constructed from glass as well as concrete but officials from Swansea Council have stated that the house will interfere with the natural surroundings.

Forty six year old Martin Morgan, a multi-millionaire and the owner of the house has followed all the necessary procedures for its designs and plans and his plans were endorsed by the Design Commission for Wales.  The site location has also received objections from conservationists.  The foundations for the building have begun but work has since been halted on the construction of the beach house.

The Building is Too Big

The chairman for the Gower Society, a protection and conservation group, Malcolm Ridge has stated that the building is too big and very different from the plans originally drafted and in fact commented that the house is approximately one third larger.  According to Mr Ridge, the lounge area is more than five feet than stated on the original plans.  He is also concerned about future developments with others following Mr Morgan's example.

Richard Lewis, a local councillor has voiced similar concerns and even went on to say that the house was like something out of the drama series Dallas.

The future for the current house 'shell' is unknown at this stage but it could be that Mr Morgan may have to demolish what has already been built and start all over again with plans and building.  New plans were re-submitted but they were withdrawn after Mr Morgan was informed that they may still be refused.
