Buying a Property

Buying a house will probably be your largest ever purchase.  Here you will find the advice that will guide you through this process.

Finding a Property - There are many options as to where to start when looking for either a new or first home.  The most obvious way to start would be through an estate agent, either from their office or website.  Driving around is also a good idea as then you may also find homes that are private sales.

The Buying Process - Once you have found a home that you want to purchase you will need to contact either the seller’s estate agent or the homeowner if the house is for sale by its owner. Make sure that you ask to see the Home Information Pack which every house on the market must have. You will need to make an offer on the property and will probably go back and forth until both parties reach an agreement on the price. You will then probably need a home survey to make sure that there are no hidden problems. A solicitor will be needed to handle all the legal aspects of the purchase.

Buying Abroad - You will need to arm yourself with as much information as possible when buying a property abroad.  The process will differ depending on which country you a purchasing your property in. The most obvious way to start would be to start looking for properties online and then take it from there.
